We began meeting every other Thursday night at the Black Dog Café in Hollidaysburg.

The very first Allegheny Ukulele Soirée was held at Penn State Altoona and featured members of the club leading workshops over a 6 hour period. We had an open mic, a ukulele "petting zoo", and one vendor - Gigbox Music.

After several years of running the Allegheny Ukes, Steve decided to step back from club activities so that he could focus on writing. To keep the club momentum going, Mike Holzer stepped into the lead organizer role, loving called the "Chief Ukulele Evangelist".

Ohana Music commits 20 soprano ukuleles to AUK's fledgling program to put ukuleles in local libraries.

Dan Scanlan aka "Cool Hand Uke" gave a performance at the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library.
The Allegheny Ukes teamed up with local and regional libraries to provide an opportunity to bring music home! Libraries were given ukulele kits to be added to each library's collection. Each library in the program had at least one librarian trained on the basics of the ukulele.
AUK and PSUkulele teamed up to busk prior to the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain concert at Eisenhower Auditorium at University Park, PA.
We held our first First Night State College concert and workshop to resounding praise!

A new uke jam in Johnstown was established for 1st Thursdays at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County
The Allegheny Ukes, in cooperation with Ohana Music, worked with the Altoona Area School District to add ukuleles to the junior high music curriculum
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all in-person jams were cancelled indefinitely.
The 2020 Allegheny Ukulele Soirée was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic after PA Governor Tom Wolf declared a state of emergency. The festival was to feature Aldrine Guerrero, Heidi Swedberg, Daniel Ward, Neal Chin, The Naked Waiters, and more.

We held our 8th Soirée virtually with Aldrine Guerrero, Heidi Swedberg, Daniel Ward, Neal Chin, The Birdwatchers, Melissa Nannen, Mim, & Amber Rozel.
In-person 2nd Sunday jams resumed at the ArtsAltoona Center on their Mural Green outdoor space to allow for social distancing.
In-person 1st & 3rd Sunday jams resumed in the State College area.
We held our 9th Soirée at the Altoona Grand featuring Del Rey, Gerald Ross, Katy Vernon, & Donna Frost.
The Arc of Altoona Ukulele Club is small but mighty! Led by Miss Melanie, they play and sing together every other Tuesday, and we rejoice in finding songs that give maximum fun while using the fewest chords. In collaboration with the Arc of Blair County, Melanie Ramsey works with this incredible group of people to bring joy and enrichment into everyone's lives!
The Altoona Area School District expands the elementary ukulele curriculum across the district (8 total schools) for all 4th and 5th graders.
We celebrated our first decade of the Allegheny Ukulele Soirée with Danielle Ate the Sandwich, Steven Espaniola, Jim Beloff, & Mika Kane
The Northern Bedford County School District, led by Brett Keith, add ukuleles to their music curriculum through coordination with the Allegheny Ukes and Ohana Music.
In collaboration with A Quaint Corner Children's Museum, we began a 3rd Monday program for kids ages 7+ and their parents.
We began meeting again on 4th Sundays at the Greenbean Coffeehouse in Altoona.
Our 11th Soirée featured The Ukulele Teacher, Neal Chin, Chrissy, & Rachel Manke. Additional guest artists were Mim, Amber Rozel, Curt Sheller, Ray Cygrymus, Melissa Nannen, and Debi Velasco.
