The Allegheny Ukulele Kollective is interested in helping local school districts enhance their music curriculum through the ukulele. We have worked with the Altoona Area School District since 2019 to bring ukes to our local children! As of January 2023 more than 600 children a year will have the ukulele as part of their music education!

AASD Timeline

2019

  • AUK, Ohana Music, and AASD worked together to bring ukes into the 7th & 8th grade music classroom

2020

  • COVID-19 pandemic shutdown

2021

  • A pilot program was started at McAuliffe Heights @ Irving Elementary School for 4th graders

2023

  • The elementary music program was expanded to the remaining 7 elementary schools in the district
  • We assisted Northern Bedford County School District in bringing ukuleles to their music program
